Manhole covers are load-rated (A15 pedestrian, B125 light vehicle, C250 forecourt, D400 carriageway). Fitting the wrong rating is a safety failure — and an insurance issue if a vehicle drops through. The frame has to be bedded on the right mortar mix at the right depth, or the cover sits proud, rocks, or corrodes the seal. Proper fit gives 20+ years of silent, smell-free service.
